New Orleans, LA. 2009

Mark went down to the New Orleans, LA. (to Franklin County March 15th - 20, 2009 ) with Ed Wyse, Wes Cosand, and Rich Leatherman.

For the week, dry walling, painting and electrical work was done.

Every morning was spiritual time and a chance to get together to pray and mediate.

One evening we had got kitchen duty to do the dishes for the whole group of ~35 workers.

Honeybells

Honeybells and grapefruits - I always enjoy these two citrus fruits.

These honeybells, sweet and juicy, came from Florida brought by a local trucker who parks his truck at a local restaurant to sell his produce.

I got a half a box each of honeybells and pink grapefruits.

Such a treat to eat these slices of honeybells. Yummy !

Spring colors

It was 37*F with sunny skies today. More crocus' and snowdrops giving a Spring mood.

Winter snowstorm

It was the BIG snow storm that was anticipated. We got about 8 inches and the wind made drifts. The kids got off from school and the roads seem like no one was out today. A good day just to stay inside and enjoy the view from indoors.

The NorthEast Snow Storm

It started snowing last night about 10 pm. Forecast said 6-8 inches of snow with gusts of wind.

This morning, 5 am, the 'no school' call and looking out my window, its snowing and about 6 inches already at 7 am. There is snow advisory til 4 pm but we could get another 1-3" overnight.

This is the first and the last 'good' WInter snow of the season I believe. In like a lamb and out like a lion, I think its reversed.

I had the opportunity to listen to Julie Hennings at a Women' Retreat. The last adopted daughter of Pearl S. Buck (who wrote the book for 'The Good Earth') shared her story of her life from S. Korea to the U.S.A. and her testimony with God love.

'Brain Age'

Its a calm evening outside but the news of a BIG Winter storm is in the back of many minds, is it going to be as much as anticipated? I hear 6-8 inches for Monday and another 1-3 inches for Tuesday. With gusts of winds, could easily make traveling hard to drive in.

Perhaps no school again and the kids are happy to know this but on the other hand, my son was looking forward to chorus and my daughter didn't want to lose any more snow make-up days to holiday vacation.
