This is the probably the last year, my hubby will be planting his crop business.

The farm, dairy and crop business has been in the family which he took it over after the dairy cows were sold in the mid 80's. (where it was just him and his dad milking the cows)

For years besides a full time job, crop farming was about 100 + acres. (70-90 acres of soybeans, 30 acres of corn and 10 acres of hay).

The weather for this Spring has made it very hard for local farmers, many have not been able to plant their corn/soybeans on schedule with the constant rain and not enough time to dry up the fields.

I think this has been the worst year for farming besides the droughts we went thru back in 1999.

The flowers continue to thrive and my kids are enjoying the Summer days relaxing and soon attending camp and vacation. This year, schools begin early on August 31st so one could say half of the Summer is gone....

I have always enjoyed and loved photography. My first camera was when I was 4 and it was a toy camera. (In my family album)


Later, at 13, I saved up money for my first Sears 126X film camera and remember having to spend extra for the flash bulbs. Looking back, this camera helped me to shoot with a square frame composition.


By the time, I was in late high school, I had gone thru a few point and shoot cameras but my first SLR was my Canon AE-1 program.

When digital cameras came out, my first was a Canon S110 and later the Canon A80 and to the first Bridge Canon, the Canon Pr01, my favorite landscape and macro camera.
Saving up my money I finally got a Canon 350D DSLR and its been a great hobby to combine all my knowledge thru forums and photography mini challenges.

I started to enter in the POTD last year, and it has been a great learning experience to enter and observe besides winning a POTD.

I pass my photography to my children and I believe my son has picked up the skills to understand the settings and the lighting of photography since he was 4 years old.
My daughter is more to enjoy just point and shoot photography and has a ways to go.



Take the time to experiment, observe and compose.
Its all about light and composition but remember to be creative and have fun to capture the memories.

Ten

Josh turned 10 and its the double digits!

A day spent having lunch 'Chinese' food at Golden Chopsticks and fun playing Wii Fit.
On Saturday evening, we went Mini Golfing, and had to rush to play the game in 30 min due to we got there too late.

A bday party on Sunday with his favorite friends on a fun hot day playing, riding the golf cart, basketball, pinata, and sharing cake /ice cream and an ice cream cake.

Beside the big day, the week was Vacation Bible School. There were about 155 children not including the JMYF where they did activities in the morning and back in the evening for activities and sleeping in tents overnight. And raised money for 'The Worm' project.

It's the end of June and the soybeans are about 4 week late to planting schedule due to the constant weeks of too much rain and not enough sun to dry out the fields and garden.
Hubby planted 26 acres yesterday and 10 this early morning. There will be 90 Acres total if finished depending on the weather.

Lets hope for a drier July!

June 17th - a day to remember. The last day of school for the kids, or should say 1/2 day where they enjoyed taking their yearbooks in to get more signatures and say their good byes. Both going to the next grade, with straight A's in the 4th quarter report card. Yeah !!!

Its also a special day that Mark and I were married 14 years ago and went to Hawaii for our honeymoon but it just seemed like yesterday. Our ups and downs, we can say we're truely blessed with two fine children and many more years to see what comes our way. For dinner we went to the Perk and this is where we had our first date. (Wow the Perk has come thru a few changes like us. ;) )

It continues to rain, this is the first year that soybeans were not planted by Memorial day and if the rain keeps up, with no dry fields for at least a week, the 70 acres of soybeans will not planted. (A sad year for our fellow local farmers) It maybe the final straw when Mark gives up farming all together. The garden continues to be a big mud ground and it may be that I just get tomatoes, if any from the 28 plants that I planted.

Showers bring flowers

It's been more than a couple of rainy wet days. Hard to plant the soybeans but just in time the corn has been planted. The garden has been rotatiled but waiting for it to dry out before planting the rest. In the meantime, flowers have been thriving and beautiful sunset skies to enjoy. Can Summer be a wet or dry one? Time will tell.

Iron Pig Game 2009

It was a cloudy cool start of 55*F and later in the afternoon the sun came out. Breezy and cool as we sat thru a good baseball game of the Iron Pigs, a three A team, the next one under the Phillies.

Final score, Iron Pigs 2, Gwinnett Braves 3.

Always Mother's Day

Every day is Mother's Day to me. I consider myself lucky to have two fine kids who get along well and enjoy life as their individualities.

It's Sunday, my day to go to work so I know they are in good hands with their dad, who took them to church and they got to play their violin duet during 'Offering' time. From what I heard, they did well and I did hear it on the church CD.

Coming home, I got a surprise - the house all tidied up and I didn't have to go to room to room cleaning up before my bath. I went to take some pictures, and Josh said he wanted to too. So instead of looking for pictures, I took some of him concentrating on some little buttercups in the wind. I also got a poem book, Josh wrote for me in school (a few funny pages exerts above) and dinner out with our favorite friends at the 'China Wok'.

Everyday is Mother's day and again I celebrate God's gift of Children in the world. Like Carters says, "They just don't stay little", so enjoy them every moment.
